Happy Flag Day!!

Flag Day marks the Second Continental Congress’s adoption of the first flag of the United States on June 14, 1777. The first flag featured the same 13 red and white stripes we see today representing the 13 original colonies, but the number and arrangement of stars have changed as the number of states has increased. The flag we fly today has remained the same since its adoption in 1960.

Not only are the stars and stripes on the flag symbolic, but so are the colors.

  • Blue: Vigilance, Perseverance & Justice
  • White: Purity & Innocence
  • Red: Hardiness & Valor

It is sometimes easy to get caught up in our lives and take things for granted that are a gift. Flag Day is an important day that allows us the opportunity to remember the bigger picture, that we are all one nation, united.

But….did you know that June 14th also marks a birthday? The birthday of the United States Army.

VES would like to take a moment to thank all the proud men and women that have served and continue to serve this wonderful nation! Thank you all! From the US Army (Happy Birthday), to the Air Force, to the Navy, to the Coast Guard, all the Guardsmen, Reservists and everyone who has served this great nation, thank you.
